Engage in the UN Celebration of 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages
The panel will explore the global efforts to protect indigenous languages, promote their continuity, and support their flourishing. The panelists are renowned global experts in indigenous languages, linguistics, human rights law, cultural expression, and the rights of indigenous peoples. Panelists will discuss activities that organizations around the world, in the United States, and in Colorado are pursuing to celebrate 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages and the importance of this celebration. Panelists will encourage the audience to engage in this important celebration and organize events, talks, and projects to promote indigenous languages in their communities.
The panel will take place March 15, 2019 during the “Conference to Implement the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in the United States,” a conference organized by the University of Colorado Law School, the American Indian Law Program, and the Native American Rights Fund.
